The Men in the Moon by H. G. Wells

This cover redesign captures the eccentric charm and speculative imagination at the heart of H.G. Wells’ The First Men in the Moon. By transforming a poised Edwardian gentleman into a literal “man in the moon,” the design brings the novel’s wit and absurdity to life—balancing humor with sophistication.

I began collaging images to perfect form and composition. Once that came together I experimented with depth and texture on the moon to gain the final product. When the illustration was finalized I placed it with sharp typography to contrast the whimsy illustration. The result is a contemporary take on a classic—one that invites readers to rediscover the inventive spirit and sly satire that define early science fiction.
